Marcus Theatres® Announces Summer Alternate Content Events at Select Theatre Locations

Marcus Theatres has partnered with various national digital broadcast networks to provide alternate programming, such as performances, music events and other entertainment to its moviegoers throughout the Midwest. The Tempest starring Christopher Plummer
 
Thursday, June 14: The Tempest starring Christopher Plummer. This one time only movie theatre screening of The Tempest filmed at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Canada focuses on Academy Award® winner Christopher Plummer as Prospero, the banished Duke of Milan. Prospero is stranded on a distant island with his daughter Miranda, and uses magic to raise a storm at sea in hopes of bringing the enemies who robbed him of his dukedom to shore. The enemies are brought to the island and chaos ensues. Ultimately, both parties come together to happily leave the island and celebrate Miranda’s approaching marriage. In addition to this magical performance, the event will also include a captured live Q&A with Plummer and Stratford Artistic Director Des McAnuff as they discuss the challenges of producing theatre for cinema as well as Plummer’s dynamic acting career.

Monday, June 18: DCI 2012 Tour Premiere. This special event brings audiences together for an outstanding performance from the Drum Corps International (DCI) organization captured LIVE just two days earlier in Akron, Ohio. Moviegoers will watch in awe as six rival teams from across the country go head-to-head in competition. These fierce marching ensembles include the Blue Stars, LaCrosse, Wis.; Phantom Regiment, Rockford, Ill.; The Cadets, Allentown, Pa.; Carolina Crown, Fort Mill, S.C.; Bluecoats, Canton, Ohio and The Cavaliers, Rosemont, Ill. Audiences will love the heart-pounding music and powerful rhythmic beats in this nonstop, energetic spectacular.

Monday, June 25: Linkin Park Living Things Concert Event. On June 25, 2012, Linkin Park fans across the nation can gather in their nearby theatres the night before the band releases their newest CD Living Things. The event will kick off with a special welcome by the band, followed by a live from tape concert captured over Memorial Day from the Linkin Park International Tour. The concert features a blend of Linkin Park’s new releases, sounding much like what the group delivered on their first two multiplatinum albums, Hybrid Theory and Meteora, along with their greatest hits during this one-night rock concert event.

Fans will have the opportunity to watch many never-before-seen stories unfold, including the collapse, decline and eventual death of band member Keith Moon. The emotional event ends with memorable music performances of top songs from the Quadrophenia album including chart topper “Love Reign oer Me” during this unforgettable rock concert.
